Nettle denim
41,90€/meter (51,12€ with VAT)
Nettle denim is made from nettle fibers and recycled cotton yarns. The cotton used for the production of this fabric is ECOTEC®, which means it is fully traceable and completely made in Italy, only with 100% pre-dyed leftovers from textile producers (also pre-consumer). Once transformed into yarns, it can be easily used for the production of top-quality products with highly sustainable value.
Composition: 24% nettle, 61% recycled cotton and 15% modal, a cellulose-derived natural fiber.
Sold by meter: total height 172 cm. (67,71 inches) of which the workable height is 170 cm (66,92 inches).
Weight: 340 gr./sqm (10 oz)
An interesting ecological alternative to natural fibers (such as cotton), nettle – more precisely “Urtica dioica” – has been widely used in history for producing yarns and fabrics, as well as weave for the uniforms of Napoleon’s army.
Stinging nettle is a perennial plant that thrives in highly nitrogenous and fertilized soils, making it a viable solution to agricultural problems, such as over-production, over-fertilization and monocultures.
Thanks to their hollowed structures, the fibers of this plant can “accumulate” air and act as an excellent thermal insulator.
Stinging nettle is a perennial plant that thrives in highly nitrogenous and fertilized soils, moreover, it is resistant to diseases and pests, which means it does not need any chemical treatments.
