Flex Tree has been designed to be used as an alternative to animal leather. With a special treatment the wood becomes extremely flexible, sewable and washable.
It is environmentally friendly and 98% flexible in the direction of the wood grain and transversely to it, not thermo-formable but resistant up to 80°C.
It is possible to engrave it with a laser.
It is water resistant therefore washable and it is sewable by hand or machine just like a normal leather. It is soft to the touch like leather.
Flex Tree is supplied as an “ecological” material since the treated natural wood can be coupled with eco-fabrics and other sustainable and natural backing materials such as his “companion”, the Cypress fabric.
It is thus suitable in fashion to produce belts, bags, clothes inserts, shoes and leather-alternative goods as well as in interior design and decoration.
The wood comes only from sustainable forests to ensure the respect of the ambient heritage and the trees life cycle through a rational and controlled use, favoring the necessary recycling and reforestation. The material is certified CITES (Convention on International Trade of Endangered Species) and FSC/PEFC (Forest Stewardship Council) that are volontary and international instruments to garantee that the wood raw material used comes from forests where rigorous environmental, social and economic standards are respected.
Flex Tree is supplied as an ecological material since the treated natural wood is backed with his “companion” Cypress fabric.
It is available in 125×28 cm slices (about 49.5″x11″) or small 25×28 cm (about 9.8″x11″) panels, cypress wood essence backed with cypress fabric (50% cotton, 50% cypress). Thickness is 0.6mm (without backing material)
